Now write the script for the direct examination of your witness. Be certain to include the following in a logical sequence. Introduce your witness, establish credibility, bring out the witness statement facts that support your story. See page 44 of the case file for an example, especially if you are declaring your witness an expert.

Remember:

Prosecution witnesses support the idea that Pat Peterson is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and intentionally harmed Kerry Doyle by using water as a deadly weapon.

Defense witnesses only need to express that Pat is probably not guilty and was in fact upholding tradition and helping Kerry prepare for the rigors of varsity soccer.
